Lots of recruiters hang out on LinkedIn looking to fill positions with  qualified candidates that they find on the professional network, but  few are aware of the new insights on LinkedIn groups that are now  available. LinkedIn Groups can be a great way for recruiters to grow  their professional network of candidates and in November, LinkedIn  released the new “Group Statistics Dashboard,” that offers user demographics, growth, and activity data on unique groups.

Now recruiters can determine the types of professionals that are in an individual group before joining it, making the tool more effective for social recruiting. Let’s use the new Bullhorn Reach User Group as an example to highlight some of the new LinkedIn data:

Demographics

The demographics tab will show you stats about members in the group including their seniority level, location, industry and job function. For example, 39% of Bullhorn Reach User Group members are senior level employees. Depending on what position you are trying to fill, this information could help in narrowing down which groups are local, which groups cater to specific job functions, etc. Group members can also perform advanced searches within the group as well.

Growth

The growth tab will demonstrate how the group has matured over time. For example, the Bullhorn Reach User Group gained 10 new members last week and currently has a total of 116 members ― join us if you’re not a member yet!

Activity

The activity tab measures comment and discussion activity in the group, as well as a job and promotion count. For example, the Bullhorn Reach User Group had 3 comments posted last week. This tab gives you some insight into how active the group is and whether or not group members are participating in conversations.

So check it out! Go to any of your groups (or start with the new Bullhorn Reach User Group) and take a look at the group statistics to help you understand them a little better. Let us know what you think!

Have you found LinkedIn groups to be a successful sourcing tool? What do you think about the new Group Statistics Dashboard?
